In Their Words

  • Jon, Emily, and the entire crew were amazing hosts and now friends. The entire experience was amazing from initial contact and throughout the entire trip. Hold the Line has given me a tool to help declutter my mind and a new avenue to get my family involved in the outdoors. Since returning my wife (who also has her own things to work through) and my daughters have gotten heavily involved in flyfishing. I am constantly amazed at how the background noise disappears with that first cast.

  • I loved this weekend for so many reasons. Most importantly, I think it is a perfect first step in exploring options for on-the-job stress. First responders have tremendous burdens to carry. Almost 500 PTSD events in a 20-year career where a civilian has an average of 5-7 in a lifetime. You don’t need a PTSD label if you are in this profession, it comes with the job. There is so much work to be done with changing the current culture of “suck it up”. Many outsiders will offer to “fix you”. It can be very confusing where to begin a journey to healing. I think the best place to start is to get into nature and get out of your head. Surrounding yourself with peers takes it one step higher. There is no silver bullet here and many shoes will not fit. However, you have to try and you need to research. Spending a weekend with your peers relaxing outdoors is the perfect recipe for natural conversations to occur. Things will come together at the right moments. You just need to come with an open mind and an open heart. This is the perfect weekend to let your guard down and know you are in very good hands with Jon & Emily. The weekend was very well organized. The food was fab, the campground was breathtaking, and the company was even better. The fishing guides are top notch and doing wonderful things for the 1 st responder community. I can’t say enough amazing things about this weekend. keep up the great work. Love the love. Big thanks to Jon & Emily Engle!!!
